And you see to the right above the "Labels" section is a list of links to websites that you might find to be useful. Also, we welcome you to become a "follower" of our ward's blog. Any way you use this site, we appreciate you paying us a visit and hope we have something to share with you that will benefit you and your loved ones.

August

Beans are in and ready for pick up (at Lauren's house), your Oats orders are being processed, and we are ready for the next month. For August we will be getting our "harvest" items from the Cannery. Dried apples, Carrots, Potato flakes, and dry onion (the foods are dehydrated). Pricing is as follows:
Item             Price per no.10 can    Price per bulk bag     Shelf Life
Apple Slices        $5.70                   15 lb. for $72.55       30 years
Carrots               $8.30                   25 lb. for $66.40       25 years
Onions, Dry        $6.90                   35 lb for $88.20        30 years
Potato flakes       $3.25                   25 lb for $33.30        30 years
*remember, the bulk items are not packaged and sealed for long-term storage. If you do not want to dry pack and can your items on your own, nor plan on using them now, go with the no.10 cans.
*the sign-ups to order will be in the R.S.binders every Sunday this month.

These foods are not in your list of what you absolutely NEED for food storage survival, but in our research we have found that if you actually HAD to live off of what you are storing, these products offer variety and flavor that make your food storage meals tasting more normal. We are investigating using these products in everyday recipes and being brave in trying new things. Recipes and tips are forthcoming throughout the month. Any questions, leave a comment and ask, or email Lauren or Jenny. Thank you!

Here are few other brands of these products if you want to order them on your own. HoneyvilleFarms and AugasonFarms and EmergencyEssentials have more dehydrated products than the ones the Cannery offers, such as tomato powder, dehydrated bananas, pineapples, berries, etc.
