It is recommended:
25 lb. of grains (wheat, rice, oats, pasta, etc) and
5 lb. of dry beans/legumes
PER PERSON PER MONTH.
Example: Family of 5 for one year needs 1500 lbs of grains (broken down however you like) and 300 lbs of beans. For further example, that could mean 8 cases white wheat, 8 cases red wheat, 10 cases of white rice, 6 cases spaghetti, 6 cases macaroni, 5 cases regular oats, 5 cases quick-oats, and 8 cases of potato flakes. And then 40 cases black beans, 30 cases white beans, and 30 cases pinto beans. (Remember: each case holds 6 number 10 cans. We're talking A LOT here! Of course you can break it down differently, this is just a rough example)
